Satchmode - Hall & Oates

Satchmode is a new dream pop duo from Los Angeles, made up of Gabe Donnay (vocals, guitar, synths, violin, mandolin) and Adam Boukis (vocals, guitar, synths).

Although the two were childhood friends, they only began writing music together in the summer of 2012 while living in Baltimore.

Collectively, they represent an eclectic diversity of musical experience, having gigged in everything from folk and bluegrass outfits to jazz combos to noise rock and funk bands. Out of this incongruous assortment of influences, they have distilled a sound that is refreshingly varied, ranging from infectious, upbeat disco grooves to rich, cinematic soundscapes.

Still, their compositions are tied together by an emphasis on memorable melodies and meaningful songwriting and a love for electronic manipulation.  Satchmode’s recently released EP Collide was recorded and mixed in their bedroom studio and mastered by Dave Cooley (who has worked with M83 and Silversun Pickups).

„This song is ideally one of the most catchy, dancey, and depressing tunes I’ve come across in quite some time. From the very moment you press play, you’ll instantly reminisce about that one relationship where you loved so passionately and so deeply but eventually fell out of love and could never get it back.” (http://www.themusicninja.com/dream-pop-satchmode-hall-and-oates/)
